Does it taste like pea protein?

Bethany’s Protein Bake has a naturally mild, slightly nutty flavor - much subtler than commodity pea proteins. Our water-based extraction process removes the compounds responsible for the “beany” taste. In baked goods, the flavor is easily masked by chocolate, vanilla, banana, peanut butter, and other recipe ingredients. We recommend starting with chocolate-based recipes (brownies, cocoa muffins) for your first bake.

How is this different from regular pea protein powder?

Night and day. Generic pea proteins are often chemically extracted, leaving behind lectins and anti-nutritional factors that cause bloating and digestive discomfort. Bethany’s Protein Bake uses European golden peas processed via water-based extraction, achieving 98% digestibility and complete lectin removal. It also has a super-fine milling that makes it ideal for baking - no grittiness.

What’s the best way to start?

Replace 25% of the flour in a recipe you already love. That’s it. If a recipe calls for 1 cup (120g) of flour, use 3/4 cup (90g) of flour + 30g (about 3 tablespoons) of Protein Bake. Add 1–2 tablespoons of extra liquid. Chocolate chip cookies, banana bread, and brownies are the most forgiving recipes to start with.

Is it keto or paleo friendly?

Bethany’s Protein Bake is paleo-friendly (single plant ingredient, no grains in the product itself). For keto, it fits well when used alongside almond or coconut flour as the base - 25g of protein with minimal carbs per serving makes it an excellent keto baking addition.

Is it safe for people with food allergies?

Yes. Bethany’s Protein Bake is free from all nine major allergens: gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, and sesame. It is manufactured at BRCGS Grade AA certified facilities with strict allergen controls. Every batch is tested for gluten (<20 ppm), dairy, and soy and a Certificate of Analysis is published for full transparency.
