Just Add Water Protein Cookie Dough
Add water to protein powder. Get cookie dough. That is the whole recipe.
I have been making this for over ten years and it still has not gotten old. Two scoops of my Vanilla DSP, a third of a cup of water, a handful of chocolate chips. Under two minutes from deciding you want it to eating it with a spoon.
No baking. No eggs. No flour. No butter. No added sugar. And because there are no eggs, there is nothing to be careful about. It is just dough, and you eat it as dough.
Why This Works With the DSP and Nothing Else
This recipe lives or dies on the protein powder, and I want to be direct about that because it is the single most common reason people tell me it did not work for them.
Whey, bone broth, collagen, beef, rice, and hemp proteins will not do this. Add water to any of them and you get a thin, gritty slurry. My DSP is a European golden pea protein isolate, milled very fine, and it absorbs water differently. Instead of thinning out, it thickens into a dough. That texture is the entire recipe, and it is not something you can substitute your way into.
Getting the Consistency Right
You are aiming for something like play-dough. Thick enough to hold its shape on a spoon, soft enough to scoop easily.
Start with the 1/3 cup of water and mix thoroughly before you judge it, because it takes a few seconds to come together. If it still looks dry, add water a small splash at a time. If it went too far the other way, add a little more protein powder. Both corrections work fast, so go in small increments rather than big ones.
Ways to Change It Up
• Cocoa DSP instead of Vanilla for a chocolate cookie dough
• Strawberry DSP for something closer to a strawberry shortcake dough
• A pinch of flaky sea salt stirred through at the end
• A spoonful of sunflower seed butter mixed in for a richer, denser dough
• A drizzle of melted chocolate over the top
• Roll it into balls and freeze them for a grab-and-go version
Why It Is Worth Keeping in Your Back Pocket
What makes this one stick around is that it requires nothing. No fridge ingredients, no oven, no blender, no planning. If you have the protein powder and access to water, you can make it. That makes it genuinely useful at the office, while travelling, or at ten at night when you want something sweet and do not want to bake.
It is also a good use for the single-serve Travel Packs, since one pack plus water gets you most of the way there.
Storage
This is designed to be made and eaten immediately, and it takes two minutes, so there is not much reason to store it. If you do have some left, cover and refrigerate for up to a day. It will firm up as it sits, so stir in a small splash of water to loosen it back up before eating.

Ingredients
2 scoops Bethany's Pantry Vanilla Digestive Support Protein
1/3 cup water (or a little more, to reach your preferred consistency)
Unsweetened 100% mini chocolate chips, to taste
Directions
- 1. Add 2 heaping scoops of Vanilla Digestive Support Protein to a bowl.
- 2. Add 1/3 cup of water and mix well. The dough should come together with a thick, fluffy, play-dough-like consistency.
- 3. Adjust as needed. If it is too dry, add a tiny bit more water. If it is too wet, add a tiny bit more protein powder. Go slowly, it does not take much either way.
- 4. Stir in as many mini chocolate chips as you like.
- 5. Eat immediately with a spoon.
